Home sick today

Cold, rainy day & we are home sick. Kevin was sent home with a fever yesterday. It seemed to break last night and he is MUCH better today. We have been reading a TON of books today & drawing on the chalkboard.

Kevin is fascinated with the computer lately, and also wants to do what ever his dad is doing. Nate is teaching Kevin the intricies of choosing the right brackets!

Office work

We moved our office downstairs and it's so much more convenient. This morning Nate was doing something on-line and Kevin wanted to see the computer too. He loves looking at photos of himself on our computer (screensaver). Nate was showing him this blog. Kind of silly, be he loved it :)

Golf, bike ride & a trip to the park today.

There are some in our family who have waited a long time for Kevin to golf. Well, he's not quite ready for a full 18 holes, but he did have fun swinging the club in our yard today. Thankfully, he did not hit us, or himself with the club, just the ball.

We took a long bike ride today & found a new park. He is so brave this year! Last summer Kevin was much more timid on the playground and needed my help on the slide. This year, he is climbing, jumping & sliding like a big kid.

My good friend Andrea came for a visit today. When she first arrived Kevin was acting shy. Don't be fooled, this child is not shy. After a few minutes he found his Iowa hat and ran around the house yelling "GO HAWKS". We have taught him well :)

A nearly 2 year old's latest accomplishments

The two year mark is almost upon us - can you believe it?!?!?

Being 2 comes with a lot more personality (what a shock). Kevin is not afraid to let us know what he wants. He is definitely showing us his independence. He can do so much more now compared with a year ago:

-Walk the stairs (with our help, of course)
-Drink from a cup (without a lid) at the table
-Pick his books by name
-Kick a ball
-Choose what clothes he will wear each day (boy, does Nate have a fun time getting him dressed each day)
-Stacking & dumping blocks, toys, leggos, or just about anything
-Nap on a cot at school (this still fascinates me!)
-Toss papers (or anything else he finds) in the trash
-"Sweep" the kitchen
-Run. all. the. time.
-Counting, not always in any sort of order, but he does know all his numbers 1-9
-Sit on his potty (usually with his diaper still on, but hey, that is progress)

We are proud to report that the binky crisis from earlier this winter is fading. He strictly only has his binky for nap & bedtime. Most days, this is fine and he does not ask for it.

We are getting excited for his birthday. He seems to understand that there will be cake and that you are supposed to blow out candles. I asked if he would like a chocolate cake, or vanilla. He wants a chocolate cake, that is very clear. I don't think he knows what vanilla is.

General silliness at home tonight

Kevin has learned to say "yeah, weekend"! We have no idea if he understands what "weekend" means, but he knows it's something fun! Happy weekend everyone!

Kevin's school cleaned house this week and sent us home with tons of his art projects. They are now the decor of his playroom. What could be better?
