Last night while I was giving Kevin a bath I found that he knows a new word, "awesome". When I handed him his favorite ball that he plays with in the tub each night he said "awesome". I was curious, what else is awesome?
I said, "Is Mommy awesome"? He nodded, but didn't say anything else. Noted. Then I said "is Daddy awesome"? "Yes" said Kevin. I asked "why is Daddy awesome"? Kevin replied, "drives the car". Daddy is awesome because he drives a car (and for a thousand other reasons).

Calling all techies... we need help!
We have Skyped with my parents a few times, and with Lori & Kenny last night. We got to meet their new baby, Ethan :)
The technology is great, but we are having some trouble with the video. Does anyone have some Skype tips? We have an external camera (Logitech). The problem is it will work fine for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, then the video will freeze up. The sound is fine. Are there any settings on our computer we should change? Is it worth it to upgrade from the free Skype service?
Any tips would be great.

We hosted the Stone family for brunch on Easter. It was kind of hectic, but very fun. I didn't have too many chances to take pictures, but we snapped a few:

Dear Kevin,
In case you weren't sure, you have definitely entered what is commonly know as "the terrible twos". Last night was the worst we've seen yet. I am sorry about how we ended the day; you in tears, me walking out of your room with my head down in defeat.
It all started as a normal evening. I picked you up from school. Your teacher said you were the only one who has learned to pedal the tricycle. I was so proud! You were riding it outside all afternoon. In fact, I had to tear you off of it and bribe you to get you to come home with me.
Once at home we played in the driveway, like we do most nights. Then, it was time for dinner. You were great - you ate everything on your plate including a bunch of cherry tomatoes, a whole banana and a slice of cheese pizza. As I sat watching you at dinner, I had no idea that the tides were about to turn...
Upon your request, we went back outside to play for a few minutes after dinner. You were helping me water some plants and play with your football. All of a sudden you started throwing all your toys. Throwing toys has been a problem for you lately. I told you that if you kept throwing them we wouldn't be able to play outside anymore, we would go inside & you would have to take a bath & go to bed. I warned you, Daddy warned you, but you kept throwing your toys. We sat you on the front step and said that you will have to go to bed now because you are not supposed to throw your toys. Silently, I picked you and brought you upstairs. You were begging me to go back outside. I persisted to give you the most miserable bath you have ever had. You were crying so hard I thought you were going to throw up in the tub! You calmed down after the bath when I let you have your binky (for your sake & mine). I read you 5 really long stories, not even the short board-book ones. I was grateful that you were sitting in my lap, finally relaxed and thought we could end the day on a calm, happy note.
I was wrong.
As soon as the last story was over (BTW... I told you when you chose Pokey Puppy that it would be the last story of the evening and you nodded your head) you began screaming for more stories and to go outside again. This went on for a while until you finally passed out in your crib.
I sure hope tonight goes better. I love you, buddy!

Kevin is very, very chatty. He speaks very intently and sometimes he is very serious, but it's just too funny when he says words backwards like:

Easter Egg Hunt
The neighborhood behind ours has a lot more younger families. Each year they organize an Easter Egg hunt for the kids. The invited us this year, we were thrilled to be included. Kevin had fun gathering his eggs & meeting the Easter Bunny. The Easter Bunny is not as scary as Santa!

A new blog
NO - hold on folks, it's not for a new baby....
I heard this quote on TV somewhere: "a couple that remodels together, stays together". It got me thinking about an idea for a new blog call I call Fumbles.
When we aren't working or playing with Kevin, most of our free time is spent tackling projects around our new house. Until recently we were complete city folk, condo yuppies; we have a fair share of learning to do about home maintenance, decorating, projects, and repairs. We thought it would be funny to document our blunders (there are just so many) and accomplishments in this blog. Enjoy!

Size 6!
Size 6...I am referring to my dream pant size - but also Kevin's new diaper size. I remember seeing that gigantic box of size 6 diapers when I held Kevin as a newborn. I thought to myself "if your child is that large, they should use a toilet"! I wish!!! So I hoisted the giant box into the cart at Costco last night. The 5's aren't completely too small, but just seemed like he would be more comfortable with the larger size - wouldn't you?
Hey, don't laugh at me... Costco is one of the best places to entertain a toddler, if, and only if, he will sit in the cart! With all the food samples & people to watch it is a busy place that is sure to excite any toddler. Thank you, thank you to the nice grandma who tended a snacky sample station. She let us take more than our fair share of bunny cracker samples without giving me that "how many times are you going to let your kid eat some without buying a box" look! She made the entire trip doable.

Cubs!
We have been working really hard on Kevin's big-kid room. The room is just about ready, but we are not ready to give up his crib. There is no rush on that, he is so happy in his crib right now. We cringe at the thought of him having total freedom in his room at night! For now, his new room is a great guest room when Uncle Brian comes to visit. The room is a baseball theme (plus, one new stuffed soccer that follows Kevin around the house).
-New baseball slippers I found in the dollar bin at Target, he loves them-
ps -It's also opening day for the Cubs today. I'm glad Kev's jersey still fits from last season!

Happy Birthday!
Kevin had a great second birthday. His croup is gone, and he is acting more like the energetic crazy toddler that we know & love!
We had a small party for him at home. Grandmom, Grandpop & Uncle Brian came from Chicago with lots of gifts for Kevy. Kevin loves soccer balls, baseballs, any kind of ball will do. For the past few weeks, when asked what he would like for his birthday, we would always respond "soccer ball"! So, of course, we got him a soccer ball. Now, it just needs to STOP SNOWING so we can get outside & play with it!

Not an April Fool's joke
On Tuesday night we had to take Kevin to the emergency room. He woke up Tuesday morning with a fever and Nate stayed home and took him to the doctor. He has had croup many times in the past, but his doctor was reluctant to give him a steroid unless he really needed it. Well, let me tell you... he really, really needed it at 3 AM in the ER. We had been awake all night rocking him & sitting in a steamy bathroom, but his breathing kept getting worse.
Everyone at the ER was very nice - who can be so friendly at 3 AM? They gave Kevin a dose of steroids and monitored him for a while. Once we got home at 5:30AM, he slept until 2:30 in the afternoon! I finally woke him up so that he would eat something & sleep okay last night.
Here's hoping he is back to his normal cheerful self just in time for his birthday on Saturday!!!

We did what?
Yes, we were crazy enough to run the Shamrock Shuffle in Chicago last weekend. 5 miles in the slop & snow. We were very, very proud of ourselves afterwards! Kevin stayed in bed at Grandmom's house & had pancakes.
