Do it again!

Kevin learned "Ring around the rosie" last week. He gets SO excited when we do it at home. Here he is with Grandmom on Saturday night!

Living History Farms

We lucked out with decent weather this weekend. Saturday we went to Living History Farms which is an old fashioned, pioneer town & farm complete with tractor rides & barnyard animals (and also 2 minutes from our house!)


All week Kevin had been so excited for his first tractor ride. We told him he couldn't ride until Grandmom & Grandpop came to visit. But when the time came to ride it, he was scared. He did better once we were riding for a few minutes.

There were lots of tractors to see!

Surprise, Kevin...

Grandmom & Grandpop surprised Kevin and picked him up at school on Friday. They came to visit us for the Holiday weekend. By the time Nate and I got home from work they had already played golf, rode the fire engine up and down our hill, played with all.the.balls.in.our.garage, and swam in the froggie pool. What a busy afternoon!

He was so proud to show Grandmom the sink in his classroom. Seriously, he LOVES to wash his hands!

He didn't want to leave school until after snack time, so they gave him some to-go!

Big Boy Bed!

Last week Kevin decided he wanted to sleep in his big boy bed. On Wednesday night he tried to sleep there, but was just too excited in there to actually fall asleep. The same was true for Thursday night. By Friday night he slept the entire night in his new room - all. by. himself.

Nate and I were so freaked out that Kevin could "roam free" upstairs at night time. But, so far he doesn't think he is allowed out of the bed by himself. In fact, we hear him say to himself "don't get out, Kevin". I am not sure how long this will last.

I-Cubs

Last weekend we took Kevin to his first baseball games, the Iowa Cubs. They have a really small park, perfect for families. Kevin lasted for 5 innings and had fun cheering with the crowd. He was decked out in all his cubs gear, especially his favorite Cubs jacket he got last year :)

Time out?

Time out? Is a time out a punishment for me or for Kevin?

He is getting the hang of it, as we have had to utilize this tactic more & more lately. It was suggested to us to be consistent with the "time out" location and to make it a spot in the house where there are no toys (where's that??) We thought the dining room was the most boring, least kid focused place. An imaginative toddler can even turn a punishment into a game; normally a time out for Kevin ends with us pulling him out from behind the dining room chair for a big hug. Is this really a punishment? He seems to think it's really fun to hide behind my red velvet chair or play hide & seek behind the curtains.

(Note to self: get dry cleaning bags to cover your most favorite red velvet chairs!)

Good morning!

Normally Kevin is still asleep when I leave for work, but not yesterday. He woke up early and had breakfast with us (no coffee for him!)

ps - he grabbed the WSJ when he saw the Cubs logo in the sports section!

Quiet weekend at home

We had no plans this weekend and spent a lot of time outside & playing with Kevin. It was very relaxing. Have a great week everyone!
