Memorial Day

City Kid

I have been waiting for Kevin to wear this. He loves his trendy city lifestyle. We are not headed for the suburbs yet!!!

Too cute not to share

So I know I was bragging about the fabulous Chicago weather we had yesterday, but I spoke too soon. Today it's cold, again! So, we are staying inside today. Kevin had more playtime on the mat and we just had to share this photo.

Playtime

Kevin loves his playmat. All the baby books say he sees red, black & white the best so this mat is perfect. We first put him on the mat when we came home from the hospital, but he didn't seem to react to it. Now, he loves it! It is amazing to watch him develop and follow the patterns & toys.

Also, Kevin's 6PM fussiness has started to dwindle so Nate has fun playing with Kevin on the mat when he comes home from work.

Lincoln Park

Chicago is a wonderful city. Everyone who lives here appreciates a day like today; 80 degrees and sunny, not a cloud in the sky. (It is still amazing to me that it was snowing the day Kevin was born). To fully enjoy the day, we decided to take Kevin to the Lakefront to see the sights. We had a picnic at the park and then gave Kevin a tour of our old neighborhood.

Mother's Day

Yesterday was my first Mother's Day, it was a very special & relaxing day. Kevin gave me some fancy spa bubble baths. I have no idea how he managed to go shopping with out me! Grandmom & I spent the afternoon shoe shopping and then a nice family bbq.

Does anyone recognize this colorful blanket from their own childhood?

In other news... I took this photo of Kevin on Saturday when he was wearing this outfit because I love the doggie feet :). This was the last time he could wear it...it's too small. All of his 3 mos size clothes are too small! At the doctor's office last week he weighted 12.3 pounds!

A few days in the country

Dad was out of town for a few days so Kevin & I spent a few days in the "country" at Grandmom & Grandpop's house. We had a great visit. Kevin enjoyed lots of cuddles from the Juel circle ladies and he spent time with Uncle Brian. Kevin slept really well while we were there, probably because it's so much quiter than the city! He also enjoyed long walks around the neighborhood, there were no sidewalk bumps like we have in the city.

But, Kevin was happy to be home last night. We picked Nate up from the airport then drove home. Once back home, he went 7 hours between feedings and slept for over 5 hours!!! Then, this morning he took a long nap on his favorite blanket. Maybe all the excitement from our mini vacation caught up to him.

Best Behavior for Grandpop

Last night Grandpop came over and we all went out for dinner. I am proud to say that Kevin is on his best behavior whenever we have guests! We walked to an authentic German restaurant down the street from our house. It was a good choice because it was close by & a very loud place. There was a live 3 piece polka band - Kevin seemed to enjoy the music. His favorite song was "In Heaven There is No Beer", just like the Iowa version!

Today the 3 of us went for a walk around the neighborhood. There is a park nearby where we like to watch Little League games on Sundays. Our other Sunday tradition that Dad started is "family nap-time". It's our favorite part of the weekend.

One Month Old

Happy 1-month birthday Kevin! The month of April really flew by. We have all come a long way in a month. Mom & Dad have learned a few things such as: babies eat a lot, all baby clothes are cute, we talk about poop alot more than we ever thought possible, sleep is a precious, baby gurgles and smiles are the cutest thing ever! Kevin has changed a lot this month too. He is learning to focus his eyes, so he doesn't always cross his eyes when looking at something new. He can hold his head up, if only for a few seconds. He loves the mobile in his crib and watches it move above. His biggest milestone came this week when he slept for close to 6 hours straight at night - we were so happy!

In honor of his 1-month birthday today, Kevin is wearing real clothes today, not his lounge-wear. Thanks Debi & John for this cute sailboat outfit!
