It was a wonderful holiday. There is something about watching a child on Christmas morning that is very special. Kevin doesn't understand all the history of Christmas yet, but he sure understands all the new toys!

Here is a video we took as we gave Kevin the Tickle-Me-Elmo that his Great Aunt Susie sent him. We must have tickled Elmo at least 50 times on Christmas day.

Thank you Great Grandma & Grandpa Stone for Kevin's new outfit. It fits him perfectly and the penguin is so cute!

WOW - there are a lot of toys in our tiny home, but we have one happy baby!

Kevin's friends

Yesterday the Dewart's came over for lunch. Ben is getting older now and can play with all the toys, it was fun to watch the 2 boys together.

Saturday evening Chris & Mike came over. Chris & I went to Sheila's new condo to celebrate our annual LZHS Christmas. Nate & Mike put Kevin to bed and spent the evening playing a cool game called Cashflow. Chris & I thought we stayed out a little too late, but when we came home, the guys were still playing Cashflow (for 4 hours!)

Weekly update

It's been a busy week. Last Saturday we went to dinner at Justin & Mishi's place in Aurora. Mishi made a great Hot-Pot dinner & we played Wii (I am really good at Wii tennis!) Justin wasn't too comfortable with Kevin as a newborn, but they bonded on Saturday night.

Sunday we put up our Christmas tree and I baked a ton of cookies. Kevin can't crawl yet, so we went ahead and put up the tree in our living room. We debated about putting it on our deck, but I like it better in the house with the ornaments. Each night when we turn it on, Kevin is fascinated with the lights.

A special thanks to the Skinners for sending Kevin his new train toy. It is really loud and makes Kevin laugh each time the train whistle blows.

8 months old!

At 8 months, Kevin is sooo close to crawling. He just can't seem to get moving. That is okay with us. He is content to sit on a blanket and play with all his toys. We plan to spend the weekend baby-proofing! So far, he only has one tooth. I am just waiting for the cries as they come in.

Trip to Phoenix

I know we normally blog about Kevin's adventures, but I thought you might like to know what we did this weekend. Nate was a groomsman in his friend Ryan's wedding. We flew to Phoenix for the event. While we were both sad to leave Kevin, it was nice to spend time with old friends and get dressed up for a fancy party. Kevin was in the experienced hands of Grandmom & Grandpop.

Thanksgiving Vacation

We returned yesterday from our Thanksgiving vacation in North Carolina. It was a trip full of many "firsts" for Kevin. Most notably, his first plane ride, first visit with good friends, first time in a swimming pool, and first trip to the beach. We started the trip last Friday and stayed with our friends in Raleigh. They were so wonderful to us and let us borrow a load of baby gear for the week. Kevin met Lily and they had a fun time playing with all of her toys. Saturday morning we drove to Sunset Beach and stayed there the remainder of the week. Grandpop, Uncle Brian & Dad enjoyed a lot of golf while me and Grandmom spent loads of time with Kevy. He was such a good baby, even behaving while Grandmom and I strolled nic-nac shops & went out for lunch.

This Thanksgiving we recognize that we have a lot to be thankful for. We hope you all had a wonderful holiday.

Happy Veteran's Day

Uncle Joe had fun feeding Kevin yesterday. Lucky for me, Kevin loves to eat his veggies.

Today, he was all smiles while eating his peas! Oh yes, I also have to mention that he usually sneezes while eating the green veggies. So gross - peas fly everywhere! I suppose I should get used to it!


It's great to spend the day with Kevin today :) It's 60 degress today, so we are off to the park to meet our friends....

7 months old

Kevin is 7 months old today! It is such a joy to watch his personality develop. We are so lucky, he is such a happy kid. Kevin's teacher's at school have a contest each morning - who can get Kevin to laugh first. It's not too hard. This month Kevin learned to sit up and to clap. He laughs so hard when he claps, it make us laugh too.

ps - we are NOT fans of the end to day light savings. Kevin was very, very confused this morning. Our plan to keep Kevin awake late last night backfired, he still woke up early.

Halloween Fun

Yesterday we went to visit Grandmom & Grandpop so Kevin could test out his costume. Kevin was a pea-in-the-pod. You will notice he is a little too big for his pod, that's why I cute holes for his feet to make it more comfy.

Today we had a Halloween Party with all the babies from the Mom's Group. The babies had no idea what was happening, but the parents sure took a ton of photos!


Then, once we got home, Kevin was still so excited for Halloween :)

This is not a costume...

..it's his new winter coat. Thanks Grandmom for Kevin's warm winter coat!
It's a little too big, maybe it will last the long winter season, and still fit him by April. (Remember, it was snowing the day Kevin was born).

The daily routine

I have been back to work for almost 2 months, yuck! While I am desperately trying to arrange a part-time job, luckily Kevin has settled into a very happy routine at school. By the time we get home at night, I have a precious hour alone with with Kevin before he goes to bed. If he is in a good mood, I am treated to laughs & giggles. Lately he is so frustrated because all he wants to do is sit up! He is so close, but by the end of the day he is too tired to hold the pose for more than a few seconds before he tips.

Here he is tonight, just chillin' on the sofa. This was after our big adventure to get the mail - what fun! He likes to greet everyone in our lobby :)

ps - if I have been slacking on the blog lately, I will make up for it this weekend. Saturday we are taking a family portrait & Sunday is Kev's Halloween Party. More photos to come...

Tailgate in IOWA

This weekend we took Kevin to his FIRST IOWA TAILGATE! The party was not as wild as our old days in school, but we had a great time. The highlight of the trip was that my cousin Lori surprised me and came all the way from Philadelphia to Iowa. It was her first trip to Iowa and her first time meeting Kevin.

This is a really fun age. Kevin is so close to sitting up by himself. I am so excited for him to be able to sit up and enjoy the world for an entirely new view. He is eating rice cereal with peaches, carrots, applesauce, and bananas. Next week we should try some veggies (but the peas are soooo gross!)
