All I can say is FUN FUN FUN!

Today my friend Brandi and I took the kids to an indoor playground. WOW - they had so much fun. Brandi's daughter McKenna is almost 3 and has been to this place a few times, she showed Kevin all her favorite spots. It was really nice that they have a separate play area for the toddlers so they aren't trampeled by the big kids.

Bath time humor

Kevin LOVES his bath. It is such a fun end to the day. He loves to splash and slide along the bottom of the tub on his belly. Nate said, "Kevin you are making big waves. Do you remember the waves was saw at the Ocean this summer"? Kevin's response; he stood up and waved his hands. Too cute.

They might charge us extra for this...

***Warning, this is gross (but no one ever said life with a toddler wasn't messy sometimes)
Each night when I pick Kevin up from school his teachers always tell me about the day's activities. Last weeek something extra gross happened....
Kevin reached his hand inside his diaper and handed his teacher his poop! Can you imaging that, how gross? This has not happened again, thank goodness!

Nate is home

Nate made it back from Chicago this afternoon. I promised Kevin that dad would be home when he woke up from his nap. We had fun playing & reading stories after dinner tonight.

Silly video

One night last week I went out for dinner & to a show with a friend of mine. Nate & Kevin spent some time missing me over some milk & cookies :)

This video is kind of random, like a typical toddler, Kevin's thoughts are all over the place! He isn't afraid of the camera anymore, rather, he is kind of flirting with it.

what color are your eyes?

Nate is in Chicago this weekend, so it's just me & Kevin.

We had a fun lunch with Barb at a local Mexican restaurant. It was perfect, Kevin could dip his chips for the entire meal, kept him very busy & very happy. After his nap we went to the mall to buy Kevin a new pair of shoes. OF COURSE, we had to stop at the play area. It was madness. It's zero degrees here, all the kids in our town were sneezing all over the place, having a blast climbing, jumping & sliding. Kevin jumped right in to join the fun.

Before bed I was trying to teach Kevin that he has brown eyes & blonde hair. When I said, "Kevin, what color are mommy's eyes?" he responded, "white". I chuckled.

little sentences

I am writing this down before I forget. Kevin is not speaking in full sentences yet, but stringing together a few words. Usually it's obvious what he is trying to say, other times I have to really use some context clues.

These are his favorite sayings lately:
"more milk"
"hungry now eat" - lately he has been putting on his own bib and standing next to his chair as I am rushing to get his dinner ready. You should also know that Kevin's teachers have told me he is the best eater in his classroom. This does not surprise us.
"mommy/daddy too" - when he wants us to play/eat/sit/color with him
"upstairs baf" - it's time to go upstairs for bath time
"binky! cubbie!!" - he reminds me everyday not to forget his binky, which the teachers have "hidden" in his cubbie at school. I suppose they have not hidden it too well! Kevin says this with such vigor and seriousness, it makes me laugh so hard.
"teef choo-choo" - he wants to brush his teeth with the toddler toothpaste wit the train on the tube.
"michael, michael" - this one was really hard for us to figure out. He wants to read "Make Way for Ducklings". There is a page with Michael the police officer. I have no idea why he is so attached to Michael, but we love this book!
"mommy/daddy car gone" - if one of us is not there, he reminds us that we drove the car away. Then he proceeds to the garage door to show us that the car is gone.
"Nate!" - this makes me laugh so hard. I am sure that is why he continues to yell "Nate, Nate". To be fair, Nate is an easy word for a baby to pronounce. I have never heard him say "Andrea". I am, and always will be "mommy"
"kkkk sttt" his teachers assure me he is saying "Kevin Stone". As he says this he points to himself!
"sawah/aryn/tamvi/andrew" - his friends at school :)
"joe joe cole" he wants to talk to Aunt Nicole & Uncle Joe on the phone. When Kevin was sick last week Nate let Kevin play with his phone. Kevin would hold it to his ear and "talk" to "JoJo" The thing is, when we actually have them on the phone he gets very shy & won't talk to them. Too bad, they want to hear what he has to say.

The small joys...

Kevin was SOOOOO excited today when both Nate & I went to pick him up from school. We can see his classroom from the parking lot. He recognized our car and ran to the window to give us a huge Forest-Gump style wave. It was so cute. We are continually grateful that he loves his new school.

A work in progress

We did a lot of work around our house this weekend. The paint colors have been chosen and the playroom is almost finished. Kevin was a big helper, he was able to use his new tools from Aunt Tanya & Uncle Dave.

The chalkboard turned out really well. I'll post more photos when we're done. So far, I think I am having more fun with it than Kevin!

Under the weather

We have all been a bit under the weather lately. Yesterday, Kevin was sent home from "school" with a fever. His teacher said he was walking around moaning "ow-wie, ow-wie". We thought it was his ears. But a visit to his doctor revealed it's just a virus. Nothing to do but rest, and watch a lot of Elmo! He is in good spirits, until the motrin wears off. His fever is down below 100 today, that's a good sign.

It's so cold here, we will be staying home all weekend.

On the potty, horray!

Kevin decided he want to try his potty today. I think we freaked him out because we were soooo excited! I never thought we would get so excited about this, but then again, there are many things he does that I never imagined could rock my world as much as they do.

We'll keep trying with the potty each night at bath time and see if there is progress. Don't worry, I won't report on the progress. We took his photo on the potty because he was grinning with pride, but decided that even babies need their privacy, so I didn't post it.

It's time to take the tree down during naptime, boo :(

Firetruck - whoo, whoo!

Uncle Jo-Jo & 'Cole came and brought Kevin a shiny red fire truck! It was a big hit!!! He especially had fun helping them assemble it.

"Pacifier's Anonymous" ???

We have regressed a little bit with Kevin's use of his pacifier. He now calls it by name; binky. We tried to limit it to bedtime only, then with the long drive to Chicago & a bout of the stomach flu, binky is with us in full force.

What to do?

Seriously, we aren't too worried, and plan to get really strict with it once he turns two.
