We survived!

We survived! It was Kevin's first week at school & my first few days back to work. It was so much harder than I could ever imagine, but, the best part is running off the train to get Kevin! We are both adjusting, I think next week will be much better.

We are relishing the weekend together. I guess now I have an understanding of how Nate felt once he went back to work after Kevin was born. Nate said I have to work on my sharing skills, I am holding Kevin all the time!!!

Today is an Iowa game day, so we have Kevin in his Hawkeye gear. We are thinking future lineman...

5 months old!

Kevin is 5 months old today! Aside from his 5 month birthday, this was a very big day for both of us; today was Kevin's first day of "school". Don't you think "school" is a much happier word than daycare? His teachers said he did very well for his first day, it will be harder for me to adjust than for Kevin. I picked him up early today and I could hardly wait to get there to give him a hug!! As soon as I picked him up, he feel asleep in my arms and has been sleeping ever since we got home. Part of me wants to wake him up so we can play, but I know that's not a good idea.

Looking back over the past 5 months, I can't believe we made it this far! We were so clueless when we brought him home from the hospital! We did not feed him enough, we did not sleep enough - some how it all worked out - now we are really having fun! Now, at 5 months, Kevin is starting to eat more rice cereal, his bedtime routine has gotten much easier and he is so much fun to play with. I think he wears himself out during the day now that he is more active. He still loves to lay on his back & kick, kick, kick his feet. Sometimes we call him "Happy Feet" instead of Kevin. Nate thinks this will confuse him. By far, my favorite part of Kevin's personality is that he smiles with his entire body. He has such a big grin and when he flashes you a big smile, you can't help but smile back immediately.

Today we went to visit baby Benjamin. Our good friends Jen & Kirk just had baby Ben a few weeks ago and we were so happy to finally meet the new baby. Kevin is giant next to baby Ben! It's been nearly 5 months for us, but we seem to have forgotten all the newborn baby stuff (funny, how that lack of sleep allows you to forget the rough stuff?). Ben was such a good baby, he slept for most of the afternoon.

Something new...?

We might have a thumb sucker on our hands! Kevin has been sucking his thumb lately; lucky for us he has been sucking his thumb in the mornings and putting himself back to sleep (until 9AM!!!)

At Yesterday's Mom's Group we thought it would be fun to take a photo of all the babies together. Well... it's kind of like herding cats, very difficult to get them all to sit still for a few seconds. Kevin remained pretty chilled out, he is in the middle (wearing what I think looks like his "back to school outfit")... we were laughing so hard...

After taking some pictures at Jamie's house, we all walked to the Shedd Aquarium and had a great time there!

Our good friends Becky & Dan were visiting from Colorado this weekend and they were finally able to meet Kevin! We love Colorado, so we hope to take Kevin there to visit next summer.

Pool party!

For today's Mom Group Carrie hosted a pool party for the kids. Kevin is one of the younger ones, so he wasn't able to sit up by himself in the pool. I was soaked! I should have worn a bathing suit too. All the moms & babies had fun :)
