New car for Kevin!

Grandmom & Grandpop came to visit this weekend. They had not seen our new house yet, so we were very excited to show it off. They arrived Friday night with a new car for Kevin! He loves to ride & push it all around.


Saturday morning went to the Des Moines Farmer's Market. Kevin got his first pumpkin. I am trying to explain that you can't eat the pumpkin (unlike apples). This is very confusing for a one year old!


Sunday afternoon the Spradlings came to see our new house! We sure hope Nicole & Joe move close by someday! Kevin was very excited to see his Aunt 'Cole & Uncle JoJo. He took them by the hand to show off his tent in the playroom & his books.

It's all about the books

All Kevin wants to do lately is read his books. Fine with us! I have this dream that he will crawl into my lap and let me read him story after story. Nope. Kevin is quite independent lately and wants to "read" his stories aloud to himself. Book, after book, after book. His babbling noises are so cute, but so serious. I'll try to catch this on video later. Even at bedtime, Kevin won't let Nate read the story, he is too busy chatting & turning the pages all.by.himself.

Today we made some friends at the library story-time. Kevin thought it was really fun to pull the books of the shelves. They have way more books than we have at home! Not so fun for me, but a way to make friends with other moms, nonetheless.

Park & Yard photos

There is a park behind our house that we try to visit each night after dinner. There are swings, slides, climbing stuff and a basketball hoop. For some reason, Kevin is now afraid of the slide. At our favorite park in Chicago he really got into it, now he is afraid to go at it alone. It took some coaxing, but he finally slid with Nate.

We disovered 3 large apple trees in our backyard. I am trying to figure out the best way to pick the really good high-up-there apples. I am thinking of sending Nate into the yard with a ladder this weekend. That might not go so well. Any suggestions?

Moving Day - Part I

We were thrilled with the movers. They were so considerate and even let Kevin climb into the giant semi-truck and honk the horn. He sure loved that! More photos of the house to come (as soon as we find the camera!)

The movers met us in Clive yesterday to unload everything. If there is such as thing as a smooth move, we sure had one. Despite the rainy weather, the entire move went perfectly. We are busy unpacking and trying to get out house into shape. Nate is anxiously awating the DirectTV guy, the internet & phone was setup yesterday. He is able to listen to the Iowa game on the radio (better than nothing!)
