Play time

A few friends from our playgroup came over this morning. The moms enjoyed coffee & bagels and the kids played. We decided that first thing in the morning is the best time to meet, since all the kids are awake early, but have different nap times. Kevin was still wearing his PJ's when our friends arrived (don't worry, I was not).

It was really hard to get these 3 active boys to sit still for this photo - that's why Kevin looks so angry (and you thought he always smiles!)

Yesterday, Nate thought it was funny that Kevin & I were wearing similar sweat suits. Nate needs one too! For 10 whole seconds Kevin actually sat still on my lap!

Family Time

So far, we are enjoying our first week of official unemployment! Last week we flew to Des Moines to look at houses. We have one in mind, but we are waiting for our condo to sell before we make an offer.

Friday was an awesome day. Kevin was spoiled by his daycare teachers one last time, it was his last day of school. Nate and I went to the Cub's game (we scored free box seats thanks to Grandmom!) When we went to pick Kevin up at school on Friday afternoon, we were overwhelmed by the loving good-bye from his teachers. We felt so sad to make them all cry. They promised to check the blog, and we will take Kevin back to visit.

This week we are going to take Kevin to the Lincoln Park Zoo, a few playdates and to visit lots of friends :)

Here is a video from the weekend. Kevin's teacher taught him to say "NO NO" as he points his finger. He does this at home all the time, it's very hard to take him seriously.

Today was a crazy day. Today was my last day of work, Nate's too. I thought I would be jumping for joy, but instead I cried like a baby. Luckily, the wonderful people in my office gave me lots of hugs and promised to keep in touch and check Kevin's blog... which brings me to this thought...
Isn't this blog just the best way for me to brag about Kevin? Yes it is! So here you go...

After a crazy day, Nate and I left behind life in downtown Chicago to pick Kevin up from school. We were surprised to learn that he was walking! Well, not really walking, but walking with the help of pushing a large wheeled toy across the play yard. What makes this extra funny & exciting is that Kevin yells the entire time he is "walking". It's more like a run away car with no brakes. He keeps pushing it until he crashes.

The other cool thing he did today was give me kisses when I asked him. We were playing on the floor in his room and he crawled into my lap. I said "kisses", and finally, he knew to turn and give his mom and kiss. Well that was just the best way to end the day. I hope he remembers how to do it again when I ask him tomorrow.

Mother's Day #2

This Mother's Day was much different than last year. Last year, my first Mother's Day, Kevin was 6 weeks old. Life is way different now. I remember being at Grandmom & Grandpop's last year and Kevin slept on Grandpop's lap most of the afternoon. This year... no way! Kevin is in constant movement. But, I am happy to say that in most ways, life with Kevin this Mother's Day is much easier & fun than last year. Grandmom & Grandpop's house has something really cool that we don't have - stairs! Kevin loves to race up the stairs. We left their house tonight with a very tired baby :)

Yesterday afternoon Kevin and I went to the park. In honor of Nate's attendance at yesterday's Cubs game, Kevin was wearing his cubbie jacket. He got lots of attention at the playground with his cool jacket.


On a separate front, we have no new news to share on our upcoming move. We don't have a move date or a new house yet. Our condo is now on the market and we are crossing our fingers for an offer! Our last day of work is this Tuesday, May 13. We have a lot to figure out in the next few weeks!

Dad's in charge

I was away on a spa weekend with my girlfriends and Nate had a great weekend with Kevin. Daddies are much sillier than mommies. Take a look...

He got the job...

For those who might now know yet, Nate accepted a job in Des Moines. We will be moving soon! His first day of work is June 2nd, so we are quickly trying to sell our condo & buy a new home. Stressful!

Of course we are really sad to leave behind family & friends, but excited for this opportunity. You're welcome to visit -once we find a place to live that is!

More details to come.... in the meantime, we are setting up lots of playdates, picnics & dinners in Chicago.

No babies photos this time... our weekend in Austin, TX

We had a great weekend in Austin. We saw a few giant Texas thunderstorms pass through, but did not interfere with the wedding festivities. Friday night was the rehearsal dinner and the first time we got a moment to greet the bride & groom. We went to the Iron Cactus, a staple on Austin's famous Sixth Street.

Saturday was the wedding. It wasn't until 6:30, so Nate & I had the day to explore the city. We opted for brunch and walked to the Market District. There were many funky shops and places to eat. This is where WholeFoods is headquartered. Of course, I forced Nate to tour a grocery store with me while on vacation! He thought that was silly, but played along anyway. It is a huge store, with tons of different items, not just food.

The wedding ceremony & reception was held at Kali-Kate Farm, about a half hour from Austin. It was a beautiful place, we had a wonderful time.
