No babies photos this time... our weekend in Austin, TX

We had a great weekend in Austin. We saw a few giant Texas thunderstorms pass through, but did not interfere with the wedding festivities. Friday night was the rehearsal dinner and the first time we got a moment to greet the bride & groom. We went to the Iron Cactus, a staple on Austin's famous Sixth Street.

Saturday was the wedding. It wasn't until 6:30, so Nate & I had the day to explore the city. We opted for brunch and walked to the Market District. There were many funky shops and places to eat. This is where WholeFoods is headquartered. Of course, I forced Nate to tour a grocery store with me while on vacation! He thought that was silly, but played along anyway. It is a huge store, with tons of different items, not just food.

The wedding ceremony & reception was held at Kali-Kate Farm, about a half hour from Austin. It was a beautiful place, we had a wonderful time.

We made it home early this afternoon. Aunt Nicole & Uncle Joe did terrific job with Kevin. A huge THANK YOU to them!!!

i love weddings

We are leaving tomorrow for Austin, Texas. Cousin Dave is marrying my college roommate, Tanya! We are excited to see everyone! We thought about bringing Kevin along, but are more thrilled at a weekend away to enjoy the wedding. Kevin will be in trusted hands, and will be spoiled rotten all weekend long by his Aunt Nicole & Uncle Joe. I can't wait to get home on Sunday and give Kev a big hug & kiss :)

Iowa road trip was a success

Can you believe it.... I remembered to bring along all of Kevin's baby gear, snacks, diapers, clothes, medicine and toys, clothes for myself & Nate, but I never had the camera! Seriously, so much stuff for just 2 days!

Our road trip was a success. We drove to Des Moines late Thursday night and Kevin slept most of the trip. We arrived at the hotel at 2AM. Nate managed a few hours of sleep before his interviews at 9AM. Friday night we visited with family in Nevada. They had not seen Kevin since he was 4 months old, so they all enjoyed "The After Dinner Kevin Show".

We made it home around midnight last night. Kevin was such a good kid, he slept nearly the entire way!!! We are so lucky!!!!!!

Daycare Detox - Day 3

Kevin is on the road to wellness. Today was day 3 of our "daycare detox" - we met up with some friends at the park. I don't think he is contagious anymore, so I thought it was safe to take him for a walk & to the park with friends. It might be too soon to let the kiddies share toys and crawl all over eachother. Today was the warmest weather we have had since last October! I have said this before, fresh air cures many ailments. Happy Spring!

Kevin is on the mend

Nate and I are snagging a few extra days home with Kevy. He was been under the weather, never really recovering from his illness at Easter and it all came back in full force on Sunday night. So, Nate & I have been taking turns staying home with Kevy while he fights away the germs and gets back to his normal, cheerful self. After our third visit to the doctor this week, he is doing so much better (so are we)! I said to Kevin's pediatrician - "maybe Kevin keeps getting sick because we take him to the doctor so much. It's not just because of daycare".

Today was Nate's day at home and they had a great long walk this afternoon. Nate & Kevin checked out all the cute nannies at the park then met me at the train. Before bed, we were all laughing & playing with Kev:

Spring is here, we hope!

The weather was great this weekend. Aside from all the excitement of the birthday party on Friday and another party yesterday at Grandmom's house, we went to the park a few times. Kevin enjoyed the swings and slide much more this year than he did last summer. I think it will just get better. My hope is that he will be jealous of all the big kids walking & running around the playground and start to walk soon. This kid is heavy to carry around! Seriously, you have no idea until you lug him around for a day. I have killer arms!
**Note to self (and all potential babysitters): fresh air is a wonderful thing! It counteracts all the sugar of birthday cake and makes this little tyke really sleepy :)
