Kevin & Eden

Last Friday night our good friends, the Sungren's, came for dinner. Their baby, Eden is a cutie! She is 8 months old and full of smiles. Before they came over Kevin helped me find some "baby" toys for Eden to play with. Although, I think Kevin had the most fun reminiscing with some of his old toys. I reminded Kevin that he had to be gentle with baby Eden. He did a good job (even though I was scared he would knock her down in the playroom while showing off his basketball skills); he even offered her one of his favorite lovies.

A nod to working moms everywhere...

Typically I am out the door each morning before Kevin wakes up. Nate is in charge of dressing Kevin & taking him to school. This system works well for us.

This morning I was helping Nate, he had an early meeting at work and asked if I would get Kevin up & ready for school. I was so excited to tip-toe into his room and wake him up. Unless he is sick, he always awakes happy. With his eyes closed, smiling, he rubs the tail of his favorite lovey (Tiger) on his face as he wakes up. So cute!

I dressed Kevin and brought him downstairs to Nate. Kevin got upset when I said goodbye, I had to leave for work. He threw his arms around my neck, I got lots of hugs & kisses, he wouldn't let go. He kept saying "I want my mommy!". Now, maybe I should feel guilty about making him upset, but I was so happy he wanted my attention. For months, and months, all Kevin has wanted is his Daddy. I am so pleased to be back to my number one ranking!

Funny ending to the story... the thing that made him happy, despite my leaving for work, was that we reminded him that today is the day a firetruck & firefighter are coming to his school! What could be better? I can't compete.

Weeekend was very busy, but so much fun!

We had lots of fun at Nate's company's Family Fun Fest. They setup a mini-carnival complete with big bouncy houses, slides & games. After the festival, we stayed for the I-Cubs baseball game.

The rest of our weekend was busy too. Saturday we took Kevin to the pool. The weather was great, very hot & sunny. Kevin showed no fear on the kiddie water slide & splashed everywhere. For Father's Day we went to Nevada for church & lunch with Nate's Grandparents.

Kevin talks A LOT, especially when we are in the car together:

Yesterday afternoon we were driving to the pool. It was the first hot, totally summer-time, sunny day. We were both in a very good mood, excited to meet our friends at the pool. I had the radio on (with my music, not Wheels on the Bus). Kevin said to me, "put the Cubbies on, Mommy". Of course we had to listen to the Cubs!

Thursday nights = fun

Fun for all of us. Nate plays in a golf league on Thursday nights in the summer so it leaves extra time for Kevin & I to do something fun. Last night we met friends at a local farmers market. They weren't too impressed with the produce, flowers, live music or people-watching. Instead, both kids were fascinated with a big red caboose. The train car sits on some old tracks where the kids can climb on it, or in Kevin & Ali's case, sit under it like a fort. Very cool.

At the market, Kevin picked some corn. We had it with dinner tonight, yum!

This weekend when I commented that Kevin slept "like a rockstar", his response: "No. I'm an oval".
