Birthday party fun

Yesterday we went to McKenna's 4th birthday party. It was at Union Park where they have a really cool vintage carousel. If you're in the area, check out Heritage Carousel!

A week at home with Katherine

Nate and I spent this week cuddling with Katherine. Well... I cuddled a lot with Katie, Nate did a lot of awesome things around the house and in the yard this week.

Today we got a wonderful surprise visit from the Gogerty's. Check out the beautiful quilts Lana made for Katie & Kevin:

I think Katie is still too young for tummy time, but Nate is more strict than me. She lasted here for a few minutes. (I am certain I have this exact photo of Kevin, in the same outfit, on this mat).



Tomorrow will be a big test for our family of four. We've been invited to 2 parties tomorrow afternoon. We'll see if we can make it through the day with only a few meltdowns...

Our first week home from the hospital

We brought Katie home from the hospital last Saturday. It's been a week and I feel like things around our house are out of control, but getting better everyday.

We had a few visitors this week and 2 outings to the pediatrician to check Katherine's weight. I am still not able to drive, so my Mom was our chauffeur. For a little excitement my Dad drove me to a drive-thru for lunch on Thursday (I was very excited to leave the house!!!) Our main activities each day basically include following Kevin around the house and watching him play.

Nate is home with us this week and I am really looking forward to having him around. The weather should be perfect this week, so even if we don't stray far from the house, we can enjoy some sunshine in the yard with Katie.

She's here!!

Katherine Rebecca was born last Wednesday, May 5 at 7:31 AM. She weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces, 20.25 inches long.

Needless to say, we were shocked to discover we have a baby girl! We are all adjusting to life with a newborn baby again. Funny how we've managed for forget a lot over the past 3 years.

Despite the look on Kevin's face in this photo, he is loving his new role as a big brother. He calls her Katie. He loves his big brother present, a Cars scooter from his sister Katie.

We came home from the hospital on Saturday. She chilled in the swing at dinner time.

I am feeling a little less sore & achy each day. My c-section surgery went just fine. I am forcing myself to sit down & rest now that I am home. It's easy to get distracted with stuff around the house, but I am trying to take advantage of the help from my parents. Nate will be home with me next week.

He said what...?

While playing outside at school last week, Kevin's teacher was trying to get his attention. He and a few other kids were playing in a pile of dirt under a tree (apparently this isn't allowed because some parents don't like to pick up their kids covered in dirt). The teacher said "Kevin, you aren't listening to me, no playing in the dirt. Kevin, put on your listening ears". Kevin's response: "They don't have any batteries" (as he covered his ears with his muddy hands). I have no idea how he came up with that response!


We spent the weekend indoors relaxing & hiding from the rain. Nate installed the baby carseat, I finally packed a bag for the hospital, we are ready!
